Type of grape Sangiovese di RomagnaPosition of the vineyards Hills
Fattoria Monticino Rosso’s Sangiovese Riserva was born from the desire to obtain the best that our hills have to offer for a difficult and noble grape like Sangiovese. We carefully select the most suitable crus of the company and we take only the best grapes. The vineyards have their ancient roots in clay soils and enjoy excellent exposure to the wind, which allows us to cultivate with total respect for nature. This attention in the vineyard is combined with obsessive care in the cellar, where the wine is aged for two years in new French oak barrels, to enhance the delicacy of our Sangiovese.
On the nose it seduces with mint, chocolate and eucalyptus, while the fruit is already launching in an evolution to which a medley intertwined with spices is the background. One cannot help but stay with the nose on the rim of the glass, as the complexity that develops is so refined that it offers glimpses of alpine herbs, ripe red berries, spices and flowers.
After a few minutes the aromas are outlined with more precision, gaining depth. The olfactory balance that is enriched with mineral nuances adds more hints of roses, violets and iris.
The body is impressive, but in the mouth it flows with extreme finesse, helped by a good freshness that runs through the wine from start to finish, with peaks of flavor that emerge at times. The tannins are explosive, fine, and well distributed between floral and blueberry returns.
